IDF Unveils New Super-Drone
Posted: Tue 23rd February 2010 2.19 PM | Author: ICEJ
The Israeli Air Force on Sunday unveiled a new long-range super-drone which
could prove to be a powerful new tool in its standoff with Iran.
The “Eitan” is an advanced design Heron-TP Unmanned Aerial Vehicle with the same wingspan as a Boeing 737. Capable of staying airborne for as long as 24 hours at an altitude of 13,000 meters (43,000 feet), it has an effective range that puts Iran in its reach.
This would make it a critical component of any potential pre-emptive air strikes against Iran’s renegade nuclear program. The drone can carry a wide variety of radar, cameras and other intelligence gathering equipment.
