Hizbullah Spokesman Denied Entry to UK

Posted: Sun 15th March 2009 6.10 PM  | AuthorSam Hailes

Ibrahim Moussawi, spokeman for the terrorist group Hizbullah has been denied a visa to enter Britain.

Moussawi had been invited to lecture at a conference on political Islam at the University of London later this month, but Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has ruled he should not be allowed to travel here.

Moussawi, who has been quoted as justifying attacks on Israeli civilians, insists that he is not an anti-Semite. Instead he claims to be a “bridge-builder" and an "advocate of dialogue and discussion”.

Moussawi previously served as political editor of Hizbullah TV, which has been banned in the United States and much of Europe due to its anti-Semitic content. He currently edits Al Manar, Hizbullah’s weekly paper.

The UK added Hizbullah's military wing to a list of terror groups in July last year and has not engaged in official talks with the group since 2005.
