What is special about Israel?
God has chosen the Jewish people. He has promised to bless the Jews, give them a land and be their God.
'"I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me [God] and you [Jews] and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. The whole land of Canaan, where you are now an alien, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God."' Genesis 17:7_8
Hasn't the church replaced Israel?
No. God made a covenant with the descendents of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob [Jews] in Genesis, thousands of years before the Church existed. God loves Israel and God loves the church, but they have separate identities throughout scripture.
"I ask then: Did God reject His people [the Jews]? By no means! God did not reject His people, whom He foreknew... for God's gifts and His call are irrevocable". (Romans 11:1,2,29)
Why should the Jews live in Israel?
Jews living in Israel is a direct fulfilment of biblical prophecy.
"'For I will take you [Jews] out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land"'. Ezekiel 36:24
This prophecy, although written a few thousand years ago was not fulfilled until 1948, when Israel became a recognised nation.
What about the Palestinians?
There has never been a 'Palestinian Arab' nation. God has promised the land to the Jews but this does not mean that no other people group can live in Israel.God wants to make Israel a blessing to everyone, including the many Arab nations surrounding Israel.
'In that day there will be a highway from Egyptto Assyria. The Assyrians will go to Egypt andthe Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together. In that day Israel will be the third, along with Egypt andAssyria, a blessing on the earth. The LORD Almighty will bless them, saying, "Blessed beEgypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, andIsrael my inheritance"'. Isaiah 19:23_25
